Week 18: Ringing in New Year/Emily Dance

So the picture for this week is supposed to be ringing in the New Year, but new years was the day we came back from Oklahoma and we were all so exhausted and were asleep by 9, so needless to say I didn't get any pictures of us sleeping. So instead for this week I am putting a video of Emily in her dance class. She loves going. My favorite part is in the first video, that anytime she sees us watching her she will wave and blow kisses over and over.

Oklahoma

This year for Christmas we went to Oklahoma. We were pretty nervous to fly with 3 little kids but overall it was much better than we anticipated. The plane ride there was pretty exhausting because the kids needed to be constantly entertained. The plane ride back though was nice because Annie and Deacon almost slept the whole way. Here are some pictures of the kids, this is Annie and Deacon's first plane rides and Emily's third.

For some reason this is how Annie usually smiles lately.

We spent Christmas Eve at my Uncle's house and the kids had so much fun playing outside and at the pond, playing with the horses and riding 4 wheelers. After Christmas we went to a lake house that my sister rented for all of us to stay together for a few days, it was very relaxing and the weather was so nice that the kids played outside tons. We went for walks, to skip rocks at the lake, had a Just Dance tournament, watched sports, played games, and ate LOTS of food.

When we were out on a drive one day Emily got really excited when she saw this and yelled, "The Eiffel Tower!"

And for some reason Ben wanted to jump in the lake while we were there, so he did and convinced a lot of the kids to do it with him. Annie did but not on purpose.

Our last night there we went on a hayride through a park to look at Christmas lights, it was a lot of fun.

Overall, it was a good trip and our kids had a LOT of fun, but we were so exhausted by the time we got home, it was nice to have a couple days to recover before Ben had to go back to work.

Week 17: your child's bedroom

Deacon's room isn't very exciting, it's also our spare bedroom so it's really just his crib. We're also in the middle of moving so there are tubs in there packed getting ready to move.

Week 16: opening gifts on christmas morning

Since we went to Oklahoma for Christmas, Santa came to our house a little early. Christmas was a lot of fun this year because the girls, especially Emily really understood about Santa and wanted to make sure that she was a good girl so he would come to our house. They also made cookies for Santa. Ben tried to convince them that Santa actually likes Oreo's but they didn't go for that and wanted to make him some.
The pajama elf comes to our house on Christmas Eve and brings us all pajamas to wear for Christmas morning.

Here they are Christmas morning getting ready to open presents...Emily went to bed that night around 8 and woke up at 10 wanting to know if Santa had come yet. She stayed up until 1230 to keep coming out and check if Santa had come.
All Emily wanted for Christmas was a dollhouse and princess castle and she and Annie were good girls and Santa brought them a dollhouse. They love it!
Santa also came to Oklahoma for the kids too, here are a couple pictures of them with some presents

Later that day the made Christmas trees out of ice cream cones and frosting with their cousins. Emily took it pretty seriously and did a good job
and Annie ate the frosting.
Overall, it was a great Christmas and we had a lot of fun and got to spend a lot of time together, which was really nice.

Week 15: Typical breakfast

The girls usually start asking for breakfast as soon as they wake up, which is unfortunately around 6, but i make them wait until after 7 to eat. Sometimes Emily just wants cereal but overall their favorite breakfast is oatmeal, so that's what we have most often. And as you can see in these pictures, our children are very photogenic and for some reason Emily is in her swimsuit.

I forgot to take pictures of our actual Thanksgiving, so for this post I decided to have the girls pick out something that they are thankful for and take their picture with it.

Week 12: Family Fun

The weekend of our 5th anniversary I surprised Ben and we went to Park City. While we were there we went swimming, which is one of our favorite things to do as a family.

This was Deacon's first time to swim, at first he didn't like it at all but he kind of got used to it. He didn't stay in long....

It is not easy to get a family picture done when taking it ourselves but I thought this turned out pretty good except that Deacon was distracted.
It was even harder to get a picture of just the kids but this one turned out good.

Week 10: Favorite Clothes

I told both of the girls to go to their room and get their favorite clothes and this is what they picked...I'm not sure why.

Emily picked out a dress that doesn't fit her anymore and a pair pajama shorts.

Annie came running out of their room yelling, "favorite, favorite" I'm not sure why she picked this either, since it is actually Emily's dress, so I just put it on over her clothes. She was also too distracted by the tv for me to get a good picture.
I'm counting this as Deacon's favorite since it's one of my favorites.

Week 9: Playing in the Leaves

Week 8: Halloween Costumes

First off, I have been really glad that I have started doing this project, mostly it has made me aware of how few pictures we were actually taking of our kids and it also has been good because it has been a good reminder to make sure we are actually doing all these different things with our kids. This is the first year Emily has picked what she wanted to be and really been excited about it, she wanted to be Jessie from Toy Story and was so excited to dress up.

Annie was a cute pink poodle and was so excited because she loves dogs. She actually got distracted anytime they went to a house that had a dog and would try and get in their house.I'm not sure what was happening in this picture.

My favorite part of the day was at the end of the night when the girls were sitting together eating their candy and Emily ask Annie, "did you have a perfect day?" it was so cute.

Week 7: Pumpkin Patch

The next couple weeks, I'm going to switch up the different prompts that are given, so this week we're doing the pumpkin patch. Today we went to a pumpkin patch and it was so much fun, the girls had a blast and of course my camera died after 2 pictures, so all the small ones are from our phone and aren't that good. And I couldn't decide which pictures to use, so there are a lot.

The girls about to go in the corn maze, at first they didn't really know what to think about it.In the corn maze they had a scavenger hunt type thing where we had to find the special room and get a magic bean to turn in for a treat at the end, the girls thought it was so exciting to find the magic beans.

They had bounce houses and slides, the girls had a blast.

Deacon was a good boy and slept the whole timeThe girls picked out what they wanted to carve on their pumpkins and then we worked on them together, Annie picked an owl and Emily picked a funny face.

All Annie did was sit there and stab her pumpkin with the little carving knife
And here she is still stabbing it. She also wouldn't look at the camera.
Overall, it was a really fun day!

For this weeks picture it's the aftermath of a mess your child has made, so i decided to take a before and after picture of our living room, it's usually a pretty big mess by the end of the day, but for some reason yesterday it wasn't nearly as bad as it usually is... i also tried to get a picture of the girls together, but Annie wasn't cooperating. Also, that is Deacon sitting on the couch in the before picture, just facing the wrong direction.

At Ben's work they have a park that is for their employee's and their families to use, so every once and awhile we will take Ben lunch and let the girls play. Here are a bunch of pictures of the kids playing.

Week 4

Week 4 is of them helping in the kitchen, I wasn't very excited to do this picture because anytime we try to let them help us in the kitchen, it just turns into the girls fighting about something. But this morning Annie said she wanted pancakes, so I decided it would be a good time for them to help me.

And of course, right after i finished taking the pictures Annie changed her mind and said she just wanted an apple. This is how Deacon helped.

I was looking at this website http://www.jennycollierphotography.com/blog/?p=2788 and liked the idea she had of documenting life, I feel like I am getting pretty much the same pictures of my kids and that they don't really have a meaning. So I am going to try and do the different prompts that she gives so that i will at least have documented at this period of time, my kids different favorite activities, books, or know what their typical day was like, or special events. The first week is their favorite summer activity.

Right now, Annie's favorite thing to do outside is ride horses. She loves it.

Emily said her favorite thing to do outside is to swing. She loves to swing and can do it all by herself now.

I'm guessing deacons favorite thing to do is sit/sleep outside, since that is what he does best.

Sometimes on Friday nights we'll have a slumber party. We'll pull out one of our mattresses and watch a movie and have popcorn, the girls love it. A couple weeks ago, Deacon had his first slumber party. From the pictures I don't think he had a very good time.

Deacon Ames Telford was born Tuesday August 9, he weighed 7 lbs 6 oz and was 20 inches long. So far he is a really good baby and likes to sleep a lot, even at night which is nice.

Here are some random pictures we've taken lately...
We moved at the end of May and one of the girls favorite things to do is to play out on our patio, they will just go out there and sit or play with toys or color, they love it.
This is a recent picture of Emily, she is getting so grown up.

This is a recent picture of Annie, she was not as cooperative as Emily was, she is also getting so big, I can't believe she'll be 2 in just a couple weeks.
This is another one of the girls favorite spots, in their window sill.
Last week, I went to go see what Annie was doing...She had gotten into bed with Emily during her nap and was playing with all the toys that Emily will put in her bed before she falls asleep. Our girls are so crazy!

Being on bedrest I thought I could probably blog more, I probably won't, but we'll see. Lately I've been taking pictures of Emily's bed after she goes to sleep. When we put her to bed, there isn't anything on her bed, yet for some reason by the time she falls asleep it looks like this...

Emily's Birthday

Emily had been bugging us to go to a hotel room, so for her birthday we let her pick if she wanted a party or if she wanted to go to a hotel room and she picked a hotel room. So we planned to go up to Salt Lake her birthday and do lots of fun kid things and spend the day playing and then go to a hotel room to stay the night and swim and have birthday cake. Well both the girls got RSV and ear infections so that threw our plans off. Since we already had paid for the room we decided we'd just go up and let them make a build a bear and go to our room and play instead of going to do anything. Emily still had lots of fun. Here she is with her new stuffed animal Gilbert.

Annie did so good riding the horses, she cried and cried when we took her off...

While my mom was here for Thanksgiving she made the girls towels with hoods and they love them. They play with them and Emily is the Princess and she makes Annie be the Pauper.

My mom has also made them things with candy on them to count down until Christmas and Annie climbed into my bag that was hanging on the doorknob to try and get more. You'll notice that there is only one hanging because I had to take Emily's down for eating more than 1 a day.

Halloween

The girls had a lot of fun celebrating Halloween this year. Emily was Tinkerbell, since it rain we had to modify her costume some, and Annie was a bumble bee.

For work Ben dressed up as the Stay Puft Marshmallow man from Ghost Busters.

Emily was so good at saying "trick-or-treat" and "thank you" but usually didn't understand she needed to leave the house and just stood there.
Annie loved it, she was so cute. She also tried to get into everyone's houses.
At Ben's work, someone had their dog there and Annie wouldn't leave it alone. It was easily 3 times her size but she kept going back to the office yelling, "puppy, puppy!"
Growing up my mom would make chocolate suckers around Christmas and this year the girls loved making Halloween suckers.
On actual Halloween we celebrated by making Shepherd's Pie with mashed potato ghosts and pumpkin cookies.

Bridal Veil Falls

Emily is super skinny so when she eats a lot of food it's really easy to tell. Her belly gets big and sticks out, I took these pictures last night after she ate a lot of pizza.

Here are a few pictures of our last day at Sea World, it was so much fun, Emily keeps asking to go see Shamu again.

This is the boat at the Sesame Street, Bay of Play that kids can play on and that characters come out and dance on.

San Diego Part 2

Before we went to Sea World, we went to The Mormon Battalion Museum and it was really neat. Emily was freaked out some by the movies but when the tour was over they let her pan for gold it was really cool.

They also took this picture of our family for us, we're really glad we took the time to go and we learned some interesting stuff.

Our first day at Sea World we didn't get much done but we went to the Shamu show and Emily loved it, she is obsessed with Shamu now. We bought her a doll and she plays with him and talks to him all the time.
Before we planned this trip we had no idea that they had so much Sesame Street stuff, but we were so happy when we found out. Our girls love Elmo and loved getting to see him, they even got to have their picture taken with him.

We also went to the Pets Rule! show and it was a lot of fun. It was a lot of dogs, cats, bird, pigs doing a show and tricks. They let everyone meet the animals after, Emily was in heaven!

The last thing we did the first day was go to an Elmo 4-D show which was really cool. This is Emily in her glasses getting ready for the show.
It freaked the girls out because water would shoot out from the seats in front of us.
By the end of the day the girls were exhausted, they fell asleep at 4 and didn't wake up until the morning, it was so nice.

San Diego Part 1

We just got back from a trip to San Diego and it was a lot of fun, on the first day we went to the beach. Emily didn't really like the ocean, which we were happy about so we didn't have to keep chasing after her, but she did love building sand castles. Annie loved eating the sand. Here are a few pictures of our day.

Later that day we went up to the San Diego Temple, since I have never seen it and when we got there, this is what it looked like...

We weren't sure what they were doing, but the whole thing looked like this.

Even though we couldn't see anything there, it was a great start to our vacation.

Ben's cousin, Robin, took family pictures for us last month and we loved them. Emily wasn't too smiley but she had been sick and was on Benadryl so we think that had something to do with it. But somehow she was able to still get some good ones, these are some of our favorites.

The girls are getting so big and are loving more and more to play together. Annie is starting to take steps and it probably won't be too long until she is walking, I can't believe how big she is getting.

We started potty training Emily a couple weeks ago and it only took a couple days to get it, she did so good. It is so nice only having one kid in diapers.

oklahoma

Here are a few pictures from our trip, I'll have to post the rest later. We had a lot of fun while we were there. We went to the zoo, it was the first time that Emily has gone that she has known the animals and she really enjoyed it.

We also went to my uncles and Emily caught her first fish, she caught 3 all together and wasn't very happy when she had to stop.

We extended our trip so we could go watch BYU Men's Basketball team play in Oklahoma City, even though they lost it was still a great experience and a lot of fun. It was a fun trip and nice to just be able to relax for a week.

Annie is getting so big and crawling all over the place. We got her a high chair a couple weeks ago and she loves it...Emily also loves having her sit at the table by her.

They love playing with each other it's so cute to see them laugh and hug and roll around together. We are loving it.

We had such a fun Christmas this year, it was the first Christmas that Emily knew what she was supposed to do. It was fun.

We all got new pajamas Christmas Eve from the Pajama Elf.

Emily is obsessed with cooking so we got her an Elmo kitchen. it has been so much fun to see her pretend she's cooking and see all the things she comes up with.

Ben had to work on Christmas so Emily decided to help him.

We had ward activity last night where we made gingerbread houses and saw Santa. Emily had some fun decorating but would just pull the candy off after she put it on.

Annie was asleep when she sat on his lap.

The whole time we waited in line Emily was whimpering and saying "home, home?"
She did better than we expected though since she was scared just looking at him across the room.

She liked him a little more at the end when he gave her a present of her favorite show, Mickey Mouse clubhouse.

I have an old purse that Emily loves to wear around as a hat and this morning I found it on Annie's head. She's so funny.

Halloween

For Halloween Ben decided He wanted to be an old man so he really shaved his head and put gray in it. It was pretty creepy. I thought Emily would be a little scared of him but she didn't care at all.

Emily was a puppy this year and really liked trick or treating but hated wearing the hood of her costume.

Annie slept almost the whole time we were out.

By the time we left Emily was so tired. It took only a few minutes for her to fall asleep on the way home.
It was a good Halloween and fun for Emily's first time for real trick or treating she liked it a lot!

We took Emily to Thanksgiving Point a few weeks ago and she loved riding the horses. Last time she went she was too scared but this time I put her on and she didn't need any help at all. I was surprised.

And she also liked playing the in jail. She's funny.

Thanksgiving Point Farm Country

Today we took Emily to the Farm Country at Thanksgiving Point and she loved it! At first she was scared and didn't know what to think of all the different animals but once got comfortable around them she loved it, she actually let a horse eat out of her hand. Here a some pictures of our day.

We cant believe a year has already passed. It really has been the fastest year of our life. We celebrated Emmys birthday today and just wanted to share some pics. We were going to have a party for her but all of us have been sick lately and we just didnt feel up to it. Emily had a good day though. She went to all the pet stores to look at animals. She loves them right now. She even got to pet a rabbit. The one strange thing about her birthday was that she did not like the white or chocolate cake that she got. She did have fun flinging it around though. She really liked the her new animal books and the horse her dad made for her. Overall it was a good day. We love our baby so much.

So i decided just to let everyone know what is going on with our family right now since we never really post very much here. Emily is doing awesome. She is a handful though. She loves to play with everything that she shouldnt play with. she cannow take about nine steps, but we have not et been able to catch it on video. Everytime we try she just looks at the camera and smiles. She totally loves getting her picture taken. anyways she is doing really good. Mikel is getting ready to go back to school at BYU this January. She is really excited to go back and finish her degree. She is the best wife and is always taking care of me and Emily. She definately goes above and beyond her role as a mother and wife. I am just about ready to graduate in two weeks from Utah Valley University. I am really excited to be done with my undergraduate.i will go back to school to get my masters after a break. i really want to just work for awhile without school. Anyways that is what is going on with our family right now.
